Pueblo Chiropractors : Dr. Spinuzzi & Dr. Carter

Dr. Joseph Spinuzzi

I was a Chiropractic skeptic

Back in my twenties, I had never heard the word Chiropractor but my girlfriend, and now my wife, convinced me to see a chiropractor she was working for at the time. It completely changed my life! I wish I had known back in my teens what I know now.

When I was seventeen, I began having episodes of lower back pain following a high school sports injury. That continued off and on until one day while working at meat packing plant I severely hurt my lower back to the point that I fell to the floor and couldn’t stand and walk without assistance. I was taken to the company doctor who prescribed muscle relaxers and a back brace and kept me off work for two weeks. I suffered in severe pain for a few weeks and then the pain lessened but never really went away and I was able to return to work. After a few bouts of severe lower back pain and the routine treatment of muscle relaxers and missing work, I decided I needed to change careers and I went back to college to major in computer science. During that time, and after some convincing, I went to see the chiropractor my girlfriend was working for. I was amazed at how much better the chronic low-grade lower back pain was. And not only that, over the years since my original back pain started, I developed chronic daily dull headaches that seemed to disappear as well. So, I started taking some biology and human anatomy classes and I was hooked. I changed my major to pre-med to pursue a career in chiropractic so that I could help people like myself that were suffering needlessly.

Chiropractic Education

I completed my pre-med under graduate studies at The University of Southern Colorado, now known as Colorado State University-Pueblo. I received my doctorate degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, IA. I chose Palmer College of Chiropractic because it was the first college of Chiropractic. It was and is on the leading edge of chiropractic education. It not only had one of the most challenging curriculum’s it had a strong chiropractic philosophical base. It is where Chiropractic began.

My Chiropractic Philosophy

My practice philosophy is to treat my patient’s the same way I would treat my own family, or if I could, myself. I know, when I have a headache or low back pain, how I want to be treated and I treat my patient’s the same.

Family

I’ve been married to my wife Liz for twenty six years. We have two beautiful daughters Lindsey who graduated from Denver University with a double major in biology and psychology and lives and works in Denver and Shanon who is a senior in high school. Shanon is a avid golfer. She is on the high school golf team as well as the swim team and is a member of the high school band. When I’m not on the golf course with Shanon , my wife and I like to work in the yard and garden. My wife is also a serious scrapbook-er!

Living the Chiropractic Lifestyle

I’ve been under chiropractic care since I was in my mid twenties and continue preventative or wellness care at about once every two weeks as does my family and staff. I try and work out three to five times a week doing a strength and flexibility program. I feel the more you invest in a healthy lifestyle the less you will need to rely on over-the-counter medications or prescription medications.

Thanks for visiting our website. My staff and I look forward to meeting you in person. Give our office a call and we can arrange a time to sit and discuss your specific health concerns and take the first step to better health.

Dr Wayne L. Carter

My experience with Chiropractic as a teenager lead me to choose Chiropractic as a career.

My dad took me to see a chiropractor when I was sixteen due to some football injuries. I didn’t know anything about chiropractic at the time, all I know is that it helped me a lot and allowed me to keep playing high school sports. I have been getting regular chiropractic adjustments ever since and I am 56 years old now. I now know that chiropractic can help you lead an active life style and keep you healthy throughout your life.

My decision to go into chiropractic was based entirely on my experience as a teenager. It helped me so much I decided that’s what I wanted to do.

Chiropractic Education

I completed my pre-chiropractic studies at the University Of Southern Colorado. I chose Parker College Of Chiropractic mainly because I had relatives in the Dallas- Ft. Worth area but quickly adapted to the teachings and philosophy of Dr. Jim Parker, the founder of the school.

I simply try to give patients the best care I can give them and refer to the appropriate medical doctor if the health problem is beyond the scope of chiropractic.

Family

I have been married to my beautiful wife Nancy for 29 years now. We have two sons Matt who is 23 and Paul who is 21. I primarily enjoy golf, but also am an avid bowler and enjoy working out at the gym. I play guitar and keep trying to improve in all my non chiropractic activities. Basically, I am always trying to get better at everything I do.

My Chiropractic Lifestyle

I continue to get regular chiropractic adjustments and lead a very active lifestyle. I am at the gym four days a week and play golf once to twice a week and bowl twice a week. I always encourage my patients to stay active and keep moving as much as possible, there’s no future in being sedentary.

Thanks for visiting our web site and if I can help you, your family and friends to lead a more active and healthy lifestyle with chiropractic I would be honored to do so, give our Pueblo chiropractic clinic a call. Chiropractic can help relieve pain and restore motion to injured or aging joints and keep your nervous system healthy by keeping your spine healthy.
